Bolles, Lucius Stillman a Baptist minister, son of the preceding, was born at Salem, Mass., July 16, 1808, and graduated from Brown University in 1828. It was his purpose to enter the medical profession, and with this end in view he studied at the medical school of Harvard College, and received the degree of M.D. in 1831. Subsequently he spent two years at the Newton Theological Institution, 1831-33, and was ordained at Lynn, Nov. 20, 1833. Here he remained until his death, which occurred July 24, 1837. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
