Boring, Isaac a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church South, was born in Jackson County, Ga., of pious parents, who brought him to Christ in his youth. In 1824 he was licensed to preach and admitted into the South Carolinas Conference. He entered on his work with thorough devotion, and thus continued, with but one year's intermission as superannuate, till the close of his life, in 1851. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
