Boyd, Robert (1), a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born in Westmoreland Connty, Pa., April 5, 1792. He united with the Church in 1811, was received into the Baltimore Conference in 1815, transferred to Pittsburgh Conference in 1825, became a superannuate in 1860, was a member of the General Conferences of 1844 and 1856, and died at Barnesville, O., July 4, 1880. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
