Bretteville, Tienne Dubois De a French theologian, was born at Brettevilie-sur-Bordel, near Caen, in 1650.. He entered the Jesuit order in 1667 but withdrew in 1678, and consecrated his time to the instruction of young ecclesiasts in eloquence. He died in 1688. He wrote, Essais de Sermons pouar tous les Jours de Carleme (Paris): — a posthumous work entitled L'Eloquence de la Chaire et du Barseau (ibid. 1689). See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
