Brewster, Loring a Presbyterian minister, was born at Weybridge, Vermont, in 1796. He was licensed by the Congregational Association, and appointed over a Church in Addison, Vermont, in 1822. In 1840 he joined the Presbyterian Church (N.S.), and became pastor of a Church at Livonia, N.Y. In 1856 he joined the Hudson Presbytery (O.S.), and became pastor of Bethel Church, New York. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
