a Presbyterian minister, was born in Ireland in 1728. He graduated at Nassau Hall in 1749, was licensed by the New Castle Presbytery, and sent to the valley of Virginia. He received a call from Timber Ridge and Providence, and was ordained and installed October 11, 1753. He resigned his charge after a pastorate of twenty-three years, and removed to Kentucky. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
