Bull, Ralph a Presbyterian minister, was born near Scotchtown, N. Y., Dec. 10,1812. His early studies were pursued at Scotchtown, and afterwards at Goshen and Newburgh. He spent two years (1826-28) in Yale College, one in the College of New Jersey, and one. (1829-30) in Princeton Theological Seminary. He was licensed by the Second Presbytery of Long Island, after which he acceptably supplied various pulpits of the Presbytery in connection with his work as a teacher. In the fall of 1836 he became pastor of the Church at Milford, Pa. In the fall of 1839 he removed to Darien, Ga., where he took charge of an academy and also preached. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
