Bulteau, Louis a French writer, was born at Rouen in 1625. Having filled the office of secretary to the king for fourteen years, he retired into the abbey of Jumiges, in Normandy, and thence to the abbey of St. Germain des Pres, in Paris. He died in Paris, April 13, 1693, leaving Defense des Sentiments de Lactance sur l'Usure (1671):--Essai de l'Histoire Monastique d'Orient (1680) :-L'Ordre de Saint-Benoit d'Occident (1684), and some minor works. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
