Caccia, Guglielmo (called il Moncalvo), an eminent Piedmontese painter, was born at Montalbano, in Montferrat, in 1568.. He settled first at Milan, and painted in the Church of San Antonio Abate a representation of the titular saint, with St. Paul. His best oil paintings are, St. Peter, in the Chiesa della Croce; St. Theresa, in the church of that name; the Descent from the Cross, which many consider his masterpiece, in San Gaudenzio, at Novara; also, the Raising of Lazarus and the Miracle of the Loaves. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
