Calabre, Edme a French priest of the Oratory, was born at Troyes in 1665; and died, as professor at Soissons, June 13, 1710. During the last fifteen years of his life he was employed at Soissons in preparing young priests for their spiritual calling. He left a Paraphrase on the Psalms, and some Sermons. See Landon, Eccles. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
