Cassana, Giovanni Francesco an Italian painter, was born at Genoa in 1611, and studied under Strozzi. He passed some time at the archduke's court in Mirandola, where he painted a picture of St. Girolamo, in the dome of the church, besides other creditable pictures. He died in 1691, See Spooner, Biog. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
