Castleman, David a Methodist Episcopal minister; was born near Gettysburg, Pa., Nov. 4,1825. He was converted in his youth; received license to preach in 1848; and in the following year was admitted into the Baltimore Conference, in which he labored until his sudden death, Nov. 10, 1875. Mr. Castleman was a careful student, an approved preacher, an industrious, faithful, affectionate, efficient pastor, and a devout Christian. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
