Cathcart, William a Presbyterian minister, was born near McEwensville, Pa., Oct. 19,1823. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1850, and from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1853; was ordained by the Presbytery of Fort Wayne, Nov. 23, 1854; was stated supply at Lagrange, Ind., in 1853;
pastor there from 1854 to 1864; and died at Lima, Ind., May 17, 1870. See Gen. Cat. of Princeton Theol. Sem. 1881 p. 177.

John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
