Cleaver, William (2), Wesleyan. Methodist minister, was born at Trinidad in 1818. He was converted under the ministry of William Moister, in Port of Spain; offered himself for the ministry in 1840; left many :enduring monuments of his labors during his thirty-five years work among the West Indian colonies, and died in his native island April 19,1878. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
