Collins, Levi a Presbyterian minister, was born at Somers, Connecticut, February 12, 1777. After receiving a careful academic education, he graduated at Yale College in 1802. He was ordained by the Holland Association in 1832. On account of ill-health he did not take a pastoral charge, but spent most of his time in teachings He was principal of Monroe Academy, Mass., for eight years, and died at Belvidere, Illinois, December 10, 1859. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
