Conceptione (or Concezione), Maria Crucifixa an Italian nun, was born in Sicily in 1645. She entered the Benedictine convent of St. Rosaire at Palma, took the vows in 1662, and died in 1699, leaving, Della Orribile Brutezza dell' Anima d'un Sacerdote, etc. (Rome, 1672; Palermo, 1675, without the name of the author, and in 1695 with her name): — Scielta di Lettera Spirituali (Girgenti, 1704); and various other writings which are found in her Life, by Jerome Turanus. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
