Conibear, William a minister of the Bible Christians, was born at Hiscott, Devonshire, England, in August 1799. He was converted in 1818, and in 1825 entered the ministry, and was appointed to the Chatham circuit. For twenty-nine years he labored on circuits and stations, making full proof of his ministry. In 1854, becoming very deaf, he took a superannuated relation. He died at Ilfracombe, September 30, 1873. See Minutes of the Conference, 1874.

John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
