Connell, John Martin a Presbyterian minister, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 22, 1819. He graduated at the University of Pennsylvania in 1838; was licensed by the Presbytery of New Castle, April 14, 1842; was stated supply in Delaware County; at Bladensburg and New Windsor, Maryland; at Wilmington, Delaware, and was killed at Burlington, N.J., August 29, 1855. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
