Constabile (Lat. Constabilis), PAOLO, an Italian theologian of the Dominican order, was born at Ferrara about 1509. Gregory XIII appointed him inquisitor of Ferrara and master of the sacred palace. He was also elected general of his order, and died at Venice, September 17, 1582, leaving De Causis in Sancto Officio Cognoscendis. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
