a Baptist minister, was born in Middlesex County, Virginia, June 10, 1773. He removed to North Carolina; in 1802 united with the Church at Holly Springs, Wake County, and was ordained in 1803. He labored as an itinerant evangelist in different parts of North Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, and Tennessee; and died in Paris, Tennessee, September 14, 1840. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
