Erebus (ἔρεβος, darkness), in Greek mythology, is the infernal region, the subterranean, chaotic night; being represented as.son of Chaos and Caligo. Erebus does not seem to be identical with Tartarus. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock.
