Fairfowl (or Fairfull), Andrew a Scotch prelate, was born at Dunfermline, December 14, 1606; graduated from the University of St. Andrews in 1623; early became chaplain to the earl of Rothes; minister at Leslie in 1632; afterwards at North Leith, and at Dunse in 1636. He was preferred to the see of Glasgow, November 14, 1661, by king Charles II, and was consecrated in June 1662. He died at Edinburgh, November 2, 1663. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
