Frankland, Thomas an English divine, was born in Lancashire in 1633, and was educated at and became a fellow of Brazenose College, Oxford. He became a preacher, afterwards a physician, and died in 1690. His published works are, The Honors of the Lords Spiritual Asserted (1681): — The Annals of King James I and King Charles I (eod.). John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
