Guldberg, Ove Hoegh a Danish statesman, historian, and theologian, was born September 1, 1731, and died February 8, 1808. He is known as the author of a Chronology for the Books of the New Testament (Copenhagen, 1785), and of A Translation of the New Testament, with Annotations (1794, 2 volumes), both published in the Danish language. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
