an Arabian historian, was born in 1160 at Jazirat Ibn-Omar, in Mesopotamia, and died at Mosul in 1231. He is the author of a large historical work, giving the history of the world to the year 1230, which was edited by Tornberg, under the title, Ibn-el-Athiri Chronicon quod Perfectissimum Inscribitur (Leyden, 1858-71, 12 volumes). John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
