Jesh'imon is the rendering in the Auth. Version (Nu 21:20; Nu 23:28; 1Sa 23:1,9,24; 1Sa 26:1,3) of ישַׁימוֹן (yeshinon'), which simply denotes a wilderness, as in the margin (so the Sept.), and elsewhere in the text (De 22:10; Ps 68:7; "desert;" Ps 78:40; Ps 107:14; Isa 43:16,20, "solitary" way, Ps 107:4). John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
