Jeu'el (Heb. Yeuel', יעוּאֵל, snatched away by God, i.e. protected; Sept. Ι᾿εήλ,Vutg. Jehuel), a descendant of Zerah, who, with his kindred to the number of 690, resided in Jerusalem after the captivity (1Ch 9:6). B.C. 536. This name is also everywhere written in the text for יעַיאֵל. SEE JEIEL. In the Apocrypha (1 Esdr. 8:39) it stands for the Heb. Jeuel (Ezr 8:13) as the name of one of the Bene-Adonikam who returned to Jerusalem after the captivity.
