Pluquet, Francois Andre Adrien an ecclesiastical writer of France, was born at Baveux in 1716. He was professor of philosophy at the Collegee e France, canon of Cambray, anid died at Paris in 1790. He published, Examen du Fatalisme (Paris, 1757, 2 volumes): — Dictionaire des Heresies des de us rreurs et des Schismes (1762, 2 vols.): — Essai Philosophique et Politique sur le Luxe (1786): — De la Superstition et de l'Enthusiasme (published after his death, 1804). John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
