Poll (גֻּלגֹּלֶת, gulgoleth, Nu 1:2,18,20,22; Nu 3:47; 1Ch 23:3,24), the head (as rendered in 1Ch 10:10), or skull (as in Jg 9:53; 2Ki 9:35). The verb '"to poll" in the A. V. is the rendering of גָּזִז, גָּלִח, or כָּסִס, all signifying to shear.

McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
