Quistorp, Johann Jacob a Lutheran theologian of Germany, was born at Rostock, March 19, 1717. He pursued his theological studies at the university of his native place, was in 1743 professor at Kiel, in 1747 court-preacher at Euitin, in 1754 professor at Rostock, and died December 26, 1766. Besides several. volumes of sermons, Quistorp published, De Christo Legem et Prophetas non Solvente, sed Implente (Rostock, 1759): — De Sacris Poenitentiae Victimis Jansenistarum (1760): — De Recentissima Loci de Angelis Bonis ex Theologia Dogmatica Proscriptione Telleriana (1764). John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
