Rafflenghen, Franz a Dutch theologian of note, was born at Lancy, near Ryssel, in 1539. He was educated at Leyden University, and greatly distinguishedl himself in the Greek and Oriental languages. He was first made professor of the former at Cambridge, and later of the latter languages at his alma mater. He died in 1597. Rafflenghen corrected the Antwerp Polyglot, and wrote, Lexicon Atab. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
