a minister in the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Scotland, was born in 1795, and died at Glasgow, professor of theology in the seminary of his mother Church, January 28, 1862, in the forty-third year of his ministry. His works on the Atonement and Intercession of Christ, and on the Mediatorial Dominion of Christ, were the best known to the public. He was also the author of a volume of Sermons. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
