Tal'mon (Heb. Talmonn'; טִלמוֹן, oppressor; Sept. Τελμών and Τελαμίν v..r. Τελμάν, Τολμών, Τελαμείν; Vulg. Telmon), the head of a family of door-keepers in the Temple, "the porters for the camps of the sons of Levi" (1Ch 9:17; Ne 11:19). B.C. 1013. Some of his descendants returned with Zerubbabel (Ezr 2:42; Ne 7:45), and were employed in their hereditary office in the days of Nehemiah and Ezra (Ne 12:25), for the proper names in this passage must be considered as the names of families.
