Umvin, John Harding a Welsh Congregational minister, was born at Meldrith, Jan. 6,1818, and commenced his ministry with village preaching. Finding Belthom a prosperous field for labor, he settled with that people, erected a commodious chapel, and built up a large congregation. His uprightness of character and consistent walk in life won for him a large circle of true friends. He died April 11,1867. See (Lond.) Cong. Yearbook 1868, p. 297.

John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
