a Methodist Episcopal minister, was born at New Hartford, N.Y. He declined a flattering business offer when h e entered the ministry; officiated some time as local preacher; studied theology in. Boston University; and in 1855 joined the Oneida, now Wyoming, Conference; serving as pastor at Vernon Center, Mount Upton, Norwich, Unadilla, and Cooperstown. He died March 9, 1875. Although Mr. Wadsworth was not a showy or brilliant speaker, yet his sound, instructive, practical sermons made him a great power in the Church. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
