He studied at various schools; became pastor of Upper and Lower Sandy and Fairfield Church, Kentucky, in 1802; in 1805 of Rehoboth and Round Hill; in 1810 preached at Uniontown, Pennsylvania; in 1823 became pastor at Wheelbig, Virginia; in 1830 at Newark, Ohio, where he continued twenty years, and died at Wheeling, May 9, 1853. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
