The psalmist reports the words of the vision very freely, interweaving with them thoughts drawn from various psalms; expanding them, and sometimes heightening the colours. I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people . David was "mighty" from his youth—own before he slew Goliath, as appears from his slaughter of the lion and the bear ( 1 Samuel 17:34-36 ).
