Two important truths for us to understand more and more are (1) how unworthy we are to receive anything from God as sinners, and (2) how much His grace has been abundantly poured out upon us. Oh how that should create such thankfulness and praise in our lives!

By His Grace - 1 Cor 15:8-10, Eph 2:8-10

As practised at our queens coronation, the “anointing of oil” is modelled on the anointing of Solomon and other Monarchs. When Jesus began his public ministry, he was not anointed with oil, which was the shadow, but with The Holy Spirit Himself. Likewise the horn of oil from heaven was poured out at Pentecost at the birth of the church. Each believer is now anointed for the purposes and ministry of God.

The road before Jesus was paved with prophecy and He fulfilled each one so specifically. Even the day he rode into Jerusalem was according to prophecy and a very specific timetable. The prophet Daniel laid out a remarkable prediction that gives us the actual day the Messiah would ride into the city and also that He would also be killed shortly after that triumphal entry. What wonder this creates in our hearts as Christians!

A Palm Sunday Prophecy - Dan 9:25-26

The last prophetical voice of the OT left us with a promise of a forerunner who would prepare the way for the Messiah (Mal 3:1, 4:5-6). 400 silent years followed, leaving us hanging, waiting, and longing. Finally, that silence was broken and the promise was fulfilled with angelic visitation from Gabriel to Zacharias. As the father of The Baptist holds his son in his arms he gives his prophecy of praise, making note of the Davidic, Abrahamic & New covenant fulfilled at Christ's coming.

The Forerunner & the Coming Messiah - Luke 1:5-80

It’s important for us to consider and process how we have all been affected during this season, both personally and as a church. We have all been challenged as we navigate our way through it. You are not the only one who might feel a little lost or strange sometimes! May we, like the psalmist, cry out to God and ask Him to "lead us to the rock" that is higher than us. (Sorry about the sound quality on this one)

Lead me to The Rock - Psalm 61:1-8

In this great chapter, God's people reflect on their history of God’s abundant mercy towards them. Even though they failed time and time again, He never forsook them but was ready to forgive them and would always work to bring them back to himself. What encouraging commentary this is for us, knowing that our God has said that He will never leave or forsake us (Heb 13:5).

According to Your Abundant Mercies - Neh 9:22-38

How foolish it would have been to have completed the walls and hung the gates and yet leave them open and unguarded. Nehemiah knew that to keep the city secure and prevent the enemy from entering, posting guards and watchmen was so important. In the same way, The Bible warns us to guard our hearts!

The Building & The Battle are both descriptive of The Christian experience. We must ensure we are active and ready for both. The enemy would love to see us quit, withdraw from the wall, but we must always return with the sword and the trowel in hand!

The Life-Changing Grace of God - 1 Cor 15:9-10

As their enemy drew near with great threats and intimidation, God made this wonderful promise to His people. They would bear fruit and flourish. We do not know what the future holds, but we know him who holds the future. Though there may be much fear and uncertainty in these strange days, the Christian is given a living hope through the promises, both for this life and beyond.
