Last Sunday was Pentecost Sunday, which marks the beginning of the Pentecost season, the longest season in the Church's calendar; the season of growth, the time specifically set aside in the church for witness and evangelism.

This morning we have before us another wonderful Gospel that gives us a vivid picture of God the Son, Jesus Christ, as our Good Shepherd the Shepherd of our souls, who cares for us, guards, leads, and protects us, and loved us so much, that He shed His own life blood upon the cross, as the final sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.
