Mark 4:35-41
VERSE OF THE DAY: They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!" —Mark 4:41
Today's passage may be short, but it packs a powerful message: Jesus calms the storm. (There's an incredible view of this story from the perspective of the Sea of Galilee, 7 miles across, 13 miles long, and over 700 feet below sea level at its deepest point. Storms passing through would get caught in a wind tunnel between two mountain ranges, magnifying the effects of the storm on the Sea. And back then, there were no life preservers!)
REFLECTION: Understanding Diminishes Fear
• They followed Jesus but didn’t understand him fully yet.
• Miracles wowed them.
• His true nature eluded them.
• Even in His presence, they were mystified.
• None of them fully understood until AFTER his death and resurrection.
Q's: Who is Jesus to you? How would you respond to a storm being calmed? When did you first encounter Jesus?
