Christianity is a rescue religion. God has taken the initiative in Jesus Christ to rescue us from our sins and to bring (reconcile) us back into a right relationship with God. We begin a 4-part series on reconciliation from Paul’s letter to Philemon. In our first message we will learn that to reconcile is to change, exchange, for something of equivalent value. When applied to human relationships, to reconcile is to receive one into favor. Over the next three Sundays we will consider the questions:
• What kind of person has the capacity to forgive?
• How does a person who forgives act?
• What motivates a person to forgive and be reconciled to another person?
