Psalm 93:3-4 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.

The flood here refers to the enemy. Now consider this:
When Jesus is "lifted up" and men are drawn to him, the end result is Life. What do you suppose happens when the enemy (the flood) is "lifted up".... ... Death!

Before Christ came, the flood of death reigned! This is why God made this promise:

Isaiah 59:19 .....When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall *lift up a standard against him.*

What is the standard or banner he lifted up?
Isaiah 13:2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain....
Psalm 60:4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
Song of Solomon 2:4 .....and his banner over me was love.

His banner of Love, his banner of Truth is Jesus Christ. He is the standard/banner that God *lifted up* to give us life. No more death, the flood has been stopped.

We can only lift up one thing, either we are lifting up the flood and as a result, we and all who follow "the flood banner" will die. Or we are lifting up Christ and therefore, will live, along with all who are drawn to and follow him. Let's lift up Jesus alway!
