Here in this section of Luke, we get the only picture of Jesus between his birth and the beginning of his ministry as an adult. The picture we find is one that we can relate to because Jesus was fully man, while at the same time not to because Jesus was fully God. The question seemingly that people wonder about is: since Jesus is God, did he have a normal childhood. We're going to get a glimpse to that answer here in Luke through a story that occurs when Jesus was 12 years old. What happened when Jesus was 12 years old? In Lesson 14 of our study of Luke we learn the answer to this question.
