<h3>The Mountain of the Lord </h3>2 This is what Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem: 2 In the last days <poetry>the mountain of the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>’s temple will be established <indent>as the highest of the mountains; </indent> it will be exalted above the hills, <indent>and all nations will stream to it. </indent></poetry> 3 Many peoples will come and say,<poetry>“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>, <indent>to the temple of the God of Jacob.</indent> He will teach us his ways, <indent>so that we may walk in his paths.”</indent> The law will go out from Zion, <indent>the word of the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> from Jerusalem. </indent> 4 <poetry>He will judge between the nations <indent>and will settle disputes for many peoples.</indent> They will beat their swords into plowshares <indent>and their spears into pruning hooks. </indent> Nation will not take up sword against nation, <indent>nor will they train for war anymore.</indent><poetry></poetry> 5 <poetry>Come, descendants of Jacob, <indent>let us walk in the light of the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>.</indent></poetry> <h3>The Day of the Lord</h3> 6 <poetry>You, <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>, have abandoned your people, <indent>the descendants of Jacob. </indent> They are full of superstitions from the East; <indent>they practice divination like the Philistines </indent> <indent>and embrace pagan customs. </indent> </poetry> 7 <poetry>Their land is full of silver and gold; <indent>there is no end to their treasures. </indent> Their land is full of horses; <indent>there is no end to their chariots. </indent> </poetry> 8 <poetry>Their land is full of idols; <indent>they bow down to the work of their hands, </indent> <indent>to what their fingers have made.</indent> </poetry> 9 <poetry>So people will be brought low <indent>and everyone humbled —</indent> <indent>do not forgive them. </indent><poetry></poetry> 10 <poetry>Go into the rocks, hide in the ground <indent>from the fearful presence of the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap></indent> <indent>and the splendor of his majesty! </indent> </poetry> 11 <poetry>The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled <indent>and human pride brought low; </indent> the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> alone will be exalted in that day. <poetry></poetry> 12 <poetry>The <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> Almighty has a day in store <indent>for all the proud and lofty, </indent> for all that is exalted <indent>(and they will be humbled), </indent> </poetry> 13 <poetry>for all the cedars of Lebanon, tall and lofty, <indent>and all the oaks of Bashan, </indent> </poetry> 14 <poetry>for all the towering mountains <indent>and all the high hills, </indent> </poetry> 15 <poetry>for every lofty tower <indent>and every fortified wall, </indent> </poetry> 16 <poetry>for every trading ship <indent>and every stately vessel.</indent> </poetry> 17 <poetry>The arrogance of man will be brought low <indent>and human pride humbled; </indent> the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> alone will be exalted in that day, </poetry> 18 <poetry>    and the idols will totally disappear. </indent><poetry></poetry> 19 <poetry>People will flee to caves in the rocks <indent>and to holes in the ground </indent> from the fearful presence of the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> <indent>and the splendor of his majesty, </indent> <indent>when he rises to shake the earth. </indent> </poetry> 20 <poetry>In that day people will throw away <indent>to the moles and bats </indent> their idols of silver and idols of gold, <indent>which they made to worship. </indent> </poetry> 21 <poetry>They will flee to caverns in the rocks <indent>and to the overhanging crags</indent> from the fearful presence of the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> <indent>and the splendor of his majesty, </indent> <indent>when he rises to shake the earth. </indent><poetry></poetry> 22 <poetry>Stop trusting in mere humans, <indent>who have but a breath in their nostrils.</indent> <indent>Why hold them in esteem? </indent></poetry>
