Song: God is a refuge for us (Psalm 62:5-8)
My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him. [6] He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defence; I shall not be moved. [7] In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. [8] Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Satan throws his fiery darts at us and we become his target, even in times when we are walking closely with God and serving Him. God did not promise a bed of roses when we first trusted in Jesus as our Saviour. In fact, we are to expect a life of tribulation and trials before we enter into heaven’s glory.
“…In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
Even in the midst of trouble, let us remind ourselves that God is in control of the fire that is used to refine our gold, and He will not make us endure temptations that are too great for us to bear, and He will surely make a way of escape for us (1 Corinthians 10:13).
In the fire, God is with us, His everlasting arms sustaining us and giving us grace and strength to bear each trial patiently. In everything, look to God in prayer. Commune with your Heavenly Father throughout the day and lean heavily upon His breast. Only God is able to carry us through the fire and waters and bring us out into a wealthy place (Psalm 66:12).
Trust God and His promises that all things will work together for our good (Romans 8:28). When surrounded by evil people who oppress us, let us remember that vengeance belongs to God and He will deal with the wicked in His own time (Romans 12:19). When tempted to sin, remember that we are to walk justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with God. Do not give in to the world and always do what is right in God’s eyes.
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8)
Let us fear God and live to please Him. Patiently bear your cross and follow Christ, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2Corinthians 4:17)
