Abimelech has defeated Gael and he has defeated the city of Shechem, both of which were rebelling against his rule. But his battles are not over, for now he sets his eyes of Thebez, a city likely not to far from Shechem. But he doesn't win this battle, for he dies. The question is: how does Abimelech die, and what did the writer of Judges give as for the reason of his death. In Lesson 32 of our study of Judges we learn the answer to this question.
