The book of Hebrews encourages us to persevere in our walk with God, in spite of challenges and persecutions. God is faithful even when we are not, and we depend on His all-sufficient grace to hold fast to the faith.

Holding fast to the faith means that we continue to trust God’s promises in His Word, believing and embracing all truths of the Bible and the gospel, despite opposition, temptation and apostasy in this world. Holding fast to the faith means that we trust in God’s faithfulness to provide grace sufficient for every day, even when the going gets tough.

Sometimes we give in to fear and depression and we fall down hard in our walk with God, but we are never utterly cast down because God Almighty upholds us with His right hand. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in His way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with His hand.” (Psalm 37:23-24)

God will never let us remain the mire of despair; He will lift us up and bear us on eagles’ wings when we cry to Him for help. “For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” (Isaiah 41:13) “This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” (Psalm 34:6)

Without faith, it is impossible to please God. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

Oh may God give us the gift of faith to trust in Him at all times and to wholeheartedly believe and possess His promises for us in the Bible! When we fully place our trust in Him, God gives us perfect peace in the midst of the storm (Isaiah 26:3).

Let us ask God to forgive us of our unbelief and pray for more faith and strength from God to walk the narrow road. Let us pray to be filled with the power of God the Holy Spirit who dwells in all believers of Christ, that we may be strengthened in the inner man and live a life victorious for His glory.

“...Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6)

“That He (God the Father) would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man;” (Ephesians 3:16)
