(Psalm 130:1-5)
Out of the depths have I cried unto Thee, O LORD. Lord, hear my voice: let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If Thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in His word do I hope.

——
In the depths of distress, sin and affliction, we are to lift up our hands to God in prayer like the psalmist. No matter what deplorable state we have fallen into, let us remember God’s promise: “If we confess our sins, He (God) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1John 1:9)

When we repent and confess our sins to God in prayer, He will cleanse us and restore the joy of our fellowship with Him again.

“The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will He keep His anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him.” (Psalm 103:8-11)

Never believe the devil that you are too far gone to ever lift up your sin-stained hands to your Heavenly Father in prayer. The devil would rather we hide ourselves from the Holy God then return to Him in repentance and prayer. God will never cast you out nor allow the devil to pluck you from His everlasting arms. “...him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37)

Christian, all your sins have been forgiven and cleansed by the blood of Jesus from the time you trusted in Him as your Saviour. Come boldly to the throne of grace, to obtain God’s mercy and grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Go in repentance, like the prodigal son in the parable, back to your Heavenly Father - no matter how wretched you have been, He will embrace you in love with open arms.

“In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.” (Isaiah 54:8)

Do not remain in the mire of sin. Go back to God! When you do so, expect that God will comfort, restore and uphold you with His everlasting arms (Deuteronomy 33:27).
