"Thy testimonies that Thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful."
word for law - testimonies; David is directing his comment directly unto the Lord. The conclusion of the verse is two descriptions of His word. Thy testimonies that Thou has commanded - the word of God is not suggestive nor opinion, it is a clear command; Commands are not open for discussion, only obedience. This is something that I see in the church which is sin. Too many in the pews and pulpits pick and choose what they will obey. I have often associated with driving up to a fast food take out menu. So many variations, so many choices, 'Which one would you like?' While the rest is forgotten or passed over. The commands of God are not optional, they are spoken from a holy God to a sinful people. The sinful people are to hear, read, and learn these commands and obey them. The price to obey for neglecting them, and choosing not to obey is clear cut, guilty and death.
'Thou art found weighed in the balances and found wanting.' Let us look for a moment at the two pronouns here. 'Thy testimonies. . .Thou has commanded' Both are captialized; both are unto God. They are giving description of the Lord God. It is one thing for the a person of this earth to give a command, it is quite something else when God gives a command. His commands are eternal. We are taught that paretns are to obey the commands of their parents that their life may be long upon the earth. HOw much more shall their life be preserved if they obey the Lord God Almighty? We are not talking about men speaking and commanding, we are talking about God sounding forth His Word. This word is our life as a church, as a Christian. Put away the thoughts and surmises that it is optional for you to pick and choose. His Word is absolute.
