"Thy word is very pure: therefore Thy servant loveth it."
word for law - word; Note the two 'Thy' again. David uses this constantly as he is addressing the Lord and expresses the pronoun possession. Thy word is very pure - very descriptive is DAvid about the Word of God; 'Thy word' is the Lord's. It is not your, nor mine. He imparts it to us for our ability to know Him and His ways. To hear His instructions and sess His mighty hand. And note the truth of His Word, it is pure. There has been other terms to describe it: it is light; it is wisdom; it is powerful; it is help; it is refuge; it is salvation; it is correction All these and many more are ways for us to understand the importance of it. It is not a trivial thing for the christian to read and stuidy the Word. It is the Word of God, and it is pure. And when a dirty, filthy sinner takes in the Word of God, it cleanses them. The word is pure, and all that receive it become pure. Those that desire to remain in their sin and practice sin, cannot be pure but they are defiled. The word is not then making them pure but condemning them for their sinful life. Oh, brethren, how much better to be made pure than condemned. The Word has the power to do all and to do both. Make sure you are one that is choosing the right way, the good way. The Word comes forth from Him that is pure. AS God imparts His attriubutes to the things He creates, they take on and have His marks. He is pure, so all that proceeds from Him is pure.
There is no defilement, no blemsih, no sin, no evil; He is all pure and wholesome and holy. Holiness is purity; without stain, without dirt, without contamination. If it has any of these things, then it is not pure. And as He speaks, the words that come forth from Him to us and His kingdom, those words are pure. You cannot find fault, you cannot see error, you cannot defilement. And if there is a lack of purity in a Christian, within the church, within our families, it is not from God, but self. We being born in sin, lack purity. We are dirty, defiled and evil. But this word that comes form Him, Who is pure, is spoken and enters in to cleanse and make pure. It washes all the sin away and makes us whole in Him. Let our minds be pure, our speech be pure, our actions be pure and undefiled.
Take in that which is pure to root out and remove that which is not pure. Take in the Word of God and receive His purity today. It was Achan who made all Israel to be defiled, because he brought in the accursed thing. Once the sin was dealt with, the purity was restored. It was Jeroboam, who made Israel to sin, and they never recovered their purity. It was Adam and Eve, who lost their purity by disobedience. It was Christ, the second Adam, Who came to restore purity in God's creation for the redeeming of lost men. Praise His Name for the purity of the Word of God. Therefore Thy servant loveth it. - 'Thy servant', a possesive ownership between God and David; Is it so with you? He states, that 'Thy word is pur' and then we have 'therefore'. What he is getting ready to say comes in response to that first half of this verse. He says, 'Because You are pure and Your word is pure, then I love You and the Word.' Is this your heart? Are you a mirror of all this affection toward God's Divine purity?
